Handing over ceremony of Cosmos Atelier’71 designed and made Printmaking Machine to the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Chittagong (CU) held on 26 January 2017 at the Institute’ premises.

This trickle down to the bottom rung will occur keeping intact the main objective and functionality of what art is meant to achieve. At the same time cutting edge printmaking machine being designed, developed and fabricated with local expertise and materials customized by Cosmos Atelier is both user and environment friendly.”

Amanullah Khan, Chairman of Cosmos Group and United News of Bangladesh (UNB) said this while delivering his address at a handing over ceremony of a print making machine donated by Cosmos Foundation to the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA), University of Chittagong (CU) on 26 January 2017. Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of CU, was the chief guest at the event while Shaela Sharmin, Director of the Institute and Kalidas Karmakar, the celebrated artist attended the function as special guests. Mohd. Jasim Uddin, Associate Professor of IFA gave the welcome address. ARK Reepon, Chief Creative Officer, Cosmos Books and Shourav Chowdhury, Executive Artistic Manager, Cosmos Gallery and Cosmos Atelier’71 were also present on the occasion

Quoting reliable sources, Cosmos Group chairman said Bangladesh ranks third among South and South East Asian countries next only to Japan and South Korea, even ahead of India in respect of printmaking art. According to all indications, the country is determined to hold on to that position and further improve its standing in that art medium, he added. “Cosmos Foundation has decided to donate printmaking machines manufactured by Cosmos Atelier’71 to all other Institutes of Fine Arts under public universities in the first phase and later in selected private universities throughout the country over a specified period of time. Cosmos Atelier’71 studio set up in 2009 has made a significant contribution toward making printmaking medium more popular, develop it along professional lines and extend its reach across the nation by unleashing a social movement,” Cosmos Group chairman told the audience.
