Cosmos Technologies has a Master Agreement with Kymeta Corporation which is commercializing software-enabled metamaterials-based electronic beamforming antennas and terminals for satellite communications. Kymeta’s new mTennaTM suite of satellite antennae are ultra-thin and use a holographic approach to electronically acquire, steer and lock a beam to a satellite. The flat, lightweight and cost-effective satellite tracking antennae are designed to work seamlessly for communication in high-volume markets where traditional satellite antennae are not currently practical or feasible, such as automotive, maritime, and aviation.
Kymeta Corporation was founded in August 2012 after spinning out of Intellectual Ventures. Kymeta announced commercial availability of its first products – the mTennau7 antenna subsystem module (ASM) and KyWayTM terminal – in March 2017, which are the first metamaterials-based products to be successfully commercialized. Kymeta has also partnered with Intelsat, operator of the world’s first Globalized Network, to offer KALO satellite services, which can be bundled with all Kymeta products. Kymeta has also raised almost $200 million in funding, the company’s largest investors include Bill Gates, Liberty Global, Lux Capital, and Osage University Partners.
